Caleb Lawson has been mourning the tragic death of pregnant wife for the last 12 years.
He’s locked himself in his head and in his work on the family farm.
Caleb’s finally come to the point where he no longer wants his family’s pity but wants to start living again… he just doesn’t know how.
A series of unfortunate events brings Sofia Nogales to the Lawson farm. Sofia only plans to stay in Jessamine, North Carolina until she can get back on her feet and continue her pursuit of being a head chef in a prominent restaurant owned by her friend.
When Sofia meets Caleb (who she is immediately attracted to and intrigued by) she wants to take the opportunity to get to know this quiet and lonely man. Sofia sees lines around Caleb’s eyes, but they’re not lines of laughter, but lines of deep sorrow.
Caleb sees a chance of a new beginning and love with Sofia.
He decides to take the risk and open himself to her and hopes she’ll decide to stay with him.
Caleb and Sofia are perfect together.
Sofia and Caleb have come to love and respect one another, but is it enough to keep Sofia from moving on with her original plan?
I love stories where the lead male is broken, but still has the hope of happiness.
Caleb was a wonderful character to read, and Sofia the perfect match for him.
I really enjoyed this story (series) and can’t wait to see what Ms. Valentine writes next.
