Synopsis

“Trust me, I’ve wanted to punch you in the face a time or five.”

When the man you worshipped as a kid becomes your coach, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing in the world. Keywords: supposed to.

It didn’t take a week for 27-year-old Sal Casillas to wonder what she’d seen in the international soccer icon – why she’d ever had his posters on her wall or ever envisioned marrying him and having super-playing soccer babies.

Sal had long ago gotten over the worst non-break-up in the history of imaginary relationships with a man who hadn’t known she’d existed. So she isn’t prepared for this version of Reiner Kulti who shows up to her team’s season: a quiet, reclusive shadow of the explosive, passionate man he’d once been

5 fantastic stars!

Let me start off by saying that I’ve read this book three times, and each and every time I read it, I’ve enjoyed it more than the previous time I’ve read it.

When I initially read this story a couple of years ago, these there the thoughts that were going through my head.

1) Wow, what an AMAZING story!
2) Why is this author not more well known?
3) Why the hell haven’t I read her work before now?

This story was so well written, and the character development was SO good that you could have sworn that these characters were real.

I loved Sal and Reiner’s characters!

Reiner is a retired soccer legend who has been hired to be the assistant coach for Sal’s women’s professional soccer team.

Sal knows who exactly Reiner is because she’s idolized him since she was a small girl. He was her favourite player. She knows ‘everything’ about his life and career, and he was her inspiration while she was training. She gives him credit for making her one of the best players in the league (possibly the world) because he motivated her to have the discipline to train and stick to a vigorous routine.
… and she’s also had a huge crush on him since she was as a child.

When Reiner finally shows up to coach, he is nothing like the man she’s put on a pedestal.
He’s crude and rude. He has no manners, and instead of sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge, he’s just indifferent with the team… which seems to be worse than anything.

When a situation arises and Sal has to help Reiner, she decides to give this incredibly pompous ass a chance.

Their relationship starts out as a very shaky friendship with lots of trials and tribulations.
It is these trials that they go through together that make this incredible journey from friendship to something more precious, and what makes this story such an amazing read.

What I loved the most about this story was that their relationship slowly built.
It was by far not easy, but then again anything worth fighting for is never easy.
.. and even though there is a 13 year age difference between the two, they are so well matched that the reader doesn’t even notice it until it is mentioned in the story.

This story is not so much about the sport of soccer, but that of two people who have a lot in common. Who find one another, like one another, and start a friendship that is solid and strong, and in the end a beautiful love for one another.

This is probably one of the best stories I’ve read.
I will definitely re-read it.

Kudos Ms Zapata for your amazing story-telling, characters, and writing of this story!

Synopsis

This is a love story between…
A woman and a man
A woman and her family
A woman and her friends
A woman and a very special dog that led her to her happily ever after.

PurpleFlowersAvailableNow

Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch.

One brown eye. One blue.
Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation.

She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems and besides… no one had ever stopped to help her.

Who we’re ultimately meant to be is a journey without end, but there’s always a defined start…

Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming. She named him Atticus. He grew up to be a very bad—and completely awesome—dog. He took Hazel on a life-changing journey filled with mischievous adventure to find her happily ever after. In the end, Hazel grew up to be completely awesome, too.

my-review

Every once in a while I blessed to read a book that truly touches me, one that opens my eyes and my heart, and I’m a better person for reading it.
I LOVED Hazel’s relationship with Atticus.

NeedHer

The secondary characters Bernard and Oley just enriched this story even more.
I laughed, I cried, I was frustrated and finally satisfied.
This was a beautiful book to read.
I really enjoy reading Sawyer Bennett’s books, but I LOVE when she writes gems like this one and The Hard Truth About Sunshine

Amazing Story!
A wonderful read, and one of my favourite books this year!
I highly recommend this book.

Natasha-Bammer

Synopsis

Two lovers strive to trade a grim past for a bright future in this story of bittersweet yearning.

Tina Jenson belongs to the same social stratum as Harris Chapman, but he’s out of her league—at least that’s what she thinks before they jump in bed together. It’s the perfect night, but when she overhears crude, hurtful comments the next morning, she can’t get away fast enough.

Ten years later, Tina’s life is a mess. That night with Harris didn’t just hurt her feelings; it started a cascade of disappointment and heartbreak. Every time she bumps into Harris, her heart twists inside out. She still wants him, but she’s harbouring a painful secret from their night together that she’s not ready to reveal.

Crossed signals, high-society whispers, and shame have kept Tina and Harris apart for years, but deep down, they’re hungry for each other and eager to write their own rules. Can they let go of the past and find their way back to each other, or are the barriers between them too high and too strong?

“5 -Then, Now, and Forever Stars!”

As with all of Natasha Anders’ books, I always feel a whirlwind of emotions when I’ve finished one of her stories.

Her characters are so damn complex and layered.
The characters and histories are heartbreaking, sad and painful.
But, the journey to forgiveness and healing is SO worth the read.

 photo giphy.gif

This story is no exception.
I absolutely adored Tina’s character. She went through so much at such a young age, and
the consequences of that “one night” still affect her.
The strength it took to persevere (even though she was so broken) was inspiring.
Unfortunately, in order for her to survive, she had to build an almost indestructible wall around her heart.
It was the only way she could cope and semi-function for the last 10 years.

 photo nofeelingsnoattachments.gif

Until… she started spending time with Harris.
There is so much history and hurt between the two of them.
Some things are just unforgivable, and Harris doesn’t know the whole story about what happened after that “one night”.

 photo lookatyouandnotbehurtbyyou.gif

So many secrets are screaming to come to light and now is the time.

I loved Harris! He was such a great character.
His perseverance, gentleness and love for Tina was beautiful.

 photo onemorechance.gif

I really enjoyed this story.
It is a story of loss, regret, forgiveness, love and learning to move forward and second chances.

Excerpt

“How you’d like your steak cooked?” Harris asked.

“Medium rare.” Tina retreated to one of the mismatched tall stools at the breakfast bar and clambered up onto it. She watched him competently move around the kitchen, cleaning and washing the spuds before readying them to go into the oven. He hummed softly beneath his breath as he worked … the tune was very familiar, but because his humming was so off-key, she couldn’t quite place it. The title hovered on the edge of her brain.

“Ugh, what is the name of that song? It’s driving me crazy!”

He looked up, startled. “What song?”

“The one you’re humming.”

“I’m not sure. Wait…” He hummed again and then breathed a few lyrics in a falsetto voice that reduced Tina to stitches. He repeated the same two words over and over again. And the words, combined with the seriously off-key tune, were definitely familiar to her.

He shook his head before saying, “I’m not sure what that song’s called … hey, stop laughing. I know for a fact your singing voice isn’t much better.” His offended observation just made her laugh harder. “Do you know the song title?”

“It’s…” She gasped for breath, then broke down into gales of laughter again when she glanced up into his expectant face. She folded her arms on the countertop and dropped her head for a moment as she tried to bring her giggles under control. Once the laughter abated, she lifted her gaze to his smiling eyes—he didn’t really look offended at all, just gently amused. “I’m sorry. It’s not your singing … okay, it kind of is. But I think I found it funnier that you were asking for the song’s title when you k-kept…” She inhaled deeply when it felt like the laughter was threatening again. “Kept singing it in that godawful voice.”

“What do you mean?”

“The song’s called ‘No One,’ Harris. By Alicia Keys.”

“Oh.” He twisted his face into a sheepish grimace before chuckling, the sound deep and masculine. “That makes sense. I like that song.”

She did too. In fact…

“We danced to that song. On my twentieth birthday,” he said, his voice quietly reminiscent. She nodded, surprised that he remembered the song, considering the state he had been in that night.

“I know.” Danced. And then kissed. Her very first kiss. The song had come to mean so much more to her, but she determinedly tamped down those particular memories.

Amusement fled, and they exchanged an uncomfortable look before both averted their eyes. Silence descended, their troubled history once again asserting itself between them. Tina nervously drummed her fingers on the Formica countertop.

“Tina.” His voice sounded anguished. “If I could do it all over again…”

She stopped tapping and lifted her hand to prevent him from saying anything further.

“Let’s not go into this again, Harris.” She watched him screw his eyes shut as he battled with what looked like some pretty powerful emotions.

“Damn.” The word was soft and fierce and sounded like a prayer.

“Why don’t we…” She paused as she considered the words she was about to utter. No matter which way she phrased them, they would seem like an olive branch. And she wasn’t sure if she wanted to extend one yet. Or ever. Still, she was in his—temporary—home, about to break bread with him, so to speak, and maybe—for her emotional health—it would be best. “Why don’t we set this aside? For today at least.”

She watched his throat move as he swallowed and then shifted her gaze to his navy-blue eyes, which were alight with gratitude.

“I’d like that,” he said gruffly, offering her the tiniest of smiles.

Tina heaved a relieved sigh, feeling lighter than she had in months. Possibly years.

“Good. Now, how about you get those steaks on? I’m starving.”

An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent
Synopsis

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course, it did.

I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.

See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man…

And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

“5 – I always know where I’m going with you STARS!”

Wow!
This was such a funny, smart, fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this story and its characters.
It was fun reading about Will and Mallory reconnecting after 14 years (even if it was under the most unusual circumstances) and developing a new, fresh adult relationship.

Fluffy-IG-ad-2

The beginning of this book had me hooked right from the start.
What started as a job opportunity for Mallory Monahan quickly turns into one of the most embarrassing situations that could happen to a person.
This is also when she reconnects with Will.

Great storyline and characters.
Wonderful read!

“Do you use the proper terms for everything, Mallory?” He makes an inarticulate sound as I peel the gauze off the cut, wiping gently. “You call your pretty place a vulva, right? And you use the word vagina.”

“’Pretty place’?”

He shrugs.

“And yes, I do. Vulva and vagina. And then there’s the clitoris,” I say primly.

“What’s that?”

“What’s what?”

“A clitoris. Never heard of it.”

I freeze and look down at him. Bright eyes meet mine. Is he serious?

“The clitoris is a nerve cluster above the opening to the vagina,” I begin, taking a breath to continue my impromptu human sexuality lecture, because when a man tells you they don’t know what a clitoris is, you educate them immediately.

For the sisterhood. All the women Will is going to sleep with from here on out will thank me later.

He starts to laugh. I’m so tempted to pour the small bottle of isopropyl alcohol directly on his wound, but I’m a kind, compassionate woman, so instead, I dab it on with a swab.

“OW!” he bellows.

“Sorry.”

“You’re not sorry at all.”

“I’m sorry for your sex partners that you have no idea what a clitoris is, Will.”

“I know what it is. And my tongue knows how to find one. Blindfolded.”

“Why would you blindfold your tongue?”

Author Bio

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men’s room toilet (and he isn’t a billionaire). She lives in New England with her husband and three kids in a household where Julia apparently is the only one who possesses the gene necessary to change empty toilet paper rolls.

“5 – Your Power Lies Within You STARS!”

POWER CAN CHANGE A PERSON.

REVENGE CAN SHAPE A PERSON.

DANGER CAN BRING THEM TOGETHER.

This was such a good read and a great start to a new series!

The story is about Molly Sullivan coming into her power and her transcendence into becoming a powerful witch.

One of the major themes of this story is that Molly’s power (not only as a witch but as a person) lies within her.

No matter what anybody says to her, or does to her, or whatever else is happening in the world…this power is Hers, and Hers alone.
Completely and forever, all she has to do is
claim it.

Josiah Mason is a powerful witch and leader of a secret coven.
He has focused all his time, energy and money for many years on a literal “witch hunt”.
He’s also the one person who can help Molly.

I loved the complicated characters and their different backgrounds.

Thea Harrison did a wonderful job of developing the characters and bringing the story beautifully together at the end.

I found this book to be a much darker, edgier story than I’m used to reading by Ms Harrison, and I loved it.
I found the emotions between the characters raw which made them more likeable (in my opinion).

I really enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading paranormal-urban fantasy romance.

“I voluntarily read an ARC of this book which was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.”
